Healthy Living - US - July 2011

In addition, Mintel’s survey finds that eating healthy is currently seen as too expensive by almost half of respondents in income groups earning $99.9K or less, and two thirds of all respondents say that gym memberships are too expensive. Stress brought on by financial and life problems could also be contributing to the overall decrease in good health.

Finding ways to bridge the gap for some individuals unable to access a doctor or afford "health" foods may be needed. Grocery stores may want to consider "healthy life" promotions where health foods like fruits, vegetables, low-fat dairy and lean meats are on sale.
