Power Tools (Industrial Report) - UK - December 2013

The power tools market is estimated to have declined by 2% in 2012 as demand from the professional sector was reduced, with aggregate construction output down year on year, and consumer DIY demand limited by the continued effects of the economic downturn and poor summer weather.

International trade statistics are available for a number of power tool categories, including drills, saws, planers, sanders, grinders and parts & accessories for such tools.

The coverage in this report includes corded and cordless electric power tools for industrial and domestic usage, including power tools for decorating use. However, it excludes pneumatic tools, hydraulic tools and garden tools.

All power tools covered in the report are portable, with stationary machine tools excluded.

The market segmentation identified here covers five categories of power tools; drills, saws, planers/grinders/sanders, other tools and tool accessories.

All of the values in this report are quoted at current prices unless otherwise specified.
