Digital Communicator: When activated the system automatically telephones a monitoring centre or police control room using the public telephone switchboard.
Direct Line: Direct line alarms activate a similar system to digital communicators though the line is not directed through the public switchboard, and thereby incurs a specific rental charge.
Dual signalling: Dual signalling systems provide both a wired and wireless signal for activating an alarm at a monitoring centre. Most systems also incorporate continuous monitoring of the integrity of the line. In the event of a line cut, it enables alarm systems to be monitored by the radio path.
