Global retail sales of fabric care products grew year-on-year from 2014.

The main part of this growth was generated in the two largest regions of Asia Pacific and Europe while the North American market remained unchanged within all fabric care categories. Laundry detergent sales in Asia Pacific saw the best growth over the last year.

The UK and France are the countries with the highest increases in per capita spend on fabric care, while spending contracted most in Australia, Chile and Japan together with Russia and Turkey.

The massive retail sales growth in Asia Pacific is to a large extent due to higher fabric care spending by Chinese consumers. Highlights of 2014 are the Chinese market leaders Nice Group and Liby Group.

The Chinese companies have surpassed both Reckitt Benckiser and Kao Corporation in terms of retail growth as a result of booming fabric care sales in China.

Hand dishwashing is still the most important category in all regions, with the exception of Europe where machine dishwashing detergents take the lead.
