This global annual market overview will provide you with an in-depth review of the key issues in the global juice and juice drinks market through 2013 as well as our forecast for what will happen in 2014 and beyond.

Juice is a mature category, yet one that continues to see a great deal of innovation in flavor blends, calorie and sweetness levels, and functional benefits.

The number of global new juice introductions jumped by more than 1,500 products in 2013 compared with the prior year.

Despite slow growth in some European markets — or perhaps because of it — the region is a leader in juice NPD, accounting for 43% of new products in 2013, and almost 1,000 more introductions than the next highest region, the Asia Pacific. France, the UK and Germany all show up among the top five most innovative countries.

The European markets face strict restrictions on nutrition claims, thanks to European Food Safety Authority guidelines that have now taken effect. But juice-makers have actually turned the new claims to their advantage, creatively addressing issues like energy, bone health and other benefits in new ways.
