Top growth markets for processed meats include many of the developing markets of Asia, most with relatively low base levels of per capita consumption.

China is now the second largest market globally for processed meats and poultry, after the US, with convenience a key driver of growth.

Several other markets in the region, are also experiencing rapid growth driven by consumer movement to modern retailing formats, rising incomes and the increased availability of processed meat products.

Europe was the most innovative region in 2014, accounting for more than half of new products launched in the category during the year, and driven by new meat product development. Convenience remains the most popular area of new product exploration globally, with convenience-related claims appearing on three out of 10 products introduced in the category, and more than four out of 10 (42%) poultry products.
