This global annual market overview will provide you with an in-depth review of the key issues in the global shampoo, conditioner and styling market through 2013 as well as our forecast for what will happen in 2014 and beyond.

In the US, the shampoo, conditioner, and styling products category saw modest growth over the last 5 years, while the UK saw a 5% increase in value sales during that time period. Other European markets have been static and show few signs of moving forward in terms of value over the next five years.

In Asia, China’s haircare market has shifted its focus from simple claims of enhancing the appearance of the hair and botanical formulations to more specific products that address the condition and health of the scalp. The shift has been partly caused by concerns about environmental pollution and more stressful working patterns. In terms of new product launch activity in 2013, shampoo continued its dominance. Conditioners came in second followed by styling. Europe recorded the highest number of launches in the last year, followed by Asia Pacific and Latin America.
