This global annual market overview will provide you with an in-depth review of the key issues in the global soup market through 2014 as well as our forecast for what will happen in 2015 and beyond.

The US, the world’s largest soup market, was challenged for growth from 2009 through 2013, but growth for 2014 is projected to increase, as ready-to-serve (RTS) ambient wet soup and chilled/frozen wet soup segments have experienced strong growth.

In Europe, market results have been mixed, with respectable growth experienced by Spain, the UK and France, as development efforts have focused on the introduction of higher value chilled soups and new packaging formats. Meanwhile, prepared soup markets in Poland and Russia have yet to realize their full potential, as both countries have very strong soup-eating traditions, yet remain heavily reliant on scratch preparation. In the Asia Pacific region, growth has been slowest in the larger and more mature prepared soup markets of Australia and Japan.

Rapidly developing prepared soup markets in the region include India, China, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand, which have experienced high growth over the past five years. This growth is poised to continue. Mexico is poised to overtake Brazil’s market lead over the next few years.
