Description

“Egypt’s outbound market is underdeveloped compared to its inbound market. In a country of almost 1 billion, less than 2% of Egyptians travelled abroad in 2017. Foreign travel is a luxury for most, afforded by only the most wealthy and upper-middle-class consumers. Economic reforms imposed in 2016 have only exacerbated this trend. The devaluation of the Egyptian Pound radically raised the price of everyday goods, rendering foreign travel unaffordable to some existing travellers.”
– Jessica Kelly, Senior Tourism Analyst
