Hotels cut their prices in order to keep visitors coming, even if hurricanes can occasionally cause stormy weather.”

Puerto Rico is the second most popular destination in the Caribbean (after the Dominican Republic). According to the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), in 2015, it attracted 3.54 million international tourists – 90% from the US mainland. A further 1.5 million tourists visited the island by cruise ship, bringing the total to just over 5 million.
