Description

Tourism has historically made an important contribution to Zimbabwe’s gross domestic product (GDP), with Victoria Falls – one of the Seven Wonders of the World – firmly locating the country on the tourism map. The tourism industry, however, has become a casualty of the violent political discord and economic freefall that was kick-started by the controversial land reform policies that blighted the years 2000-08. During this time, Zimbabwe became increasingly isolated from the international community.
